BACOLOD City – The city government has appointed two new members to the Board of Directors (BOD) of the Bacolod City Water District (Baciwa).
The appointments fill the vacancies left by the expiration of the terms of former members Lawrence Villanueva, representing the business sector, and Dr. Rebecca Filasol, representing the professional sector, who completed their terms on December 31, 2024.
Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez appointed Edgardo Uychiat and former councilor Sonia Verdeflor to the board.
The appointments, signed by Mayor Benitez on November 25, 2024, took effect on January 1, 2025.
According to Baciwa general manager Mona Dia Jardin, Uychiat replaces Villanueva, while Verdeflor fills the position left by Filasol.
The BOD members are appointed for a six-year term, with the exception of BOD Chairman Atty. Lorendo Dilag, whose term was extended for another six years following his reappointment by Mayor Benitez in 2022.
Presidential Decree (PD) No. 198, Section 10 mandates that the list of nominees for the BOD must be submitted to the appointing authority by November 15, and appointments must be made by December 15 of each year./PN
