BACOLOD City – The Bacolod City Engineering District is among the three out of 16 engineering districts in Western Visayas that have obtained a perfect rating in terms of road maintenance.
City District Engineer Abraham Villareal said this is based on the assessment that a team from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Central Office’s Bureau of Maintenance has conducted.
The two other districts were the Negros Occidental 3rd Engineering District in Kabankalan City and the Iloilo City Engineering District.
The ratings were based on the performance of the engineering districts in the first semester of the year – from January to March.
Villareal said he is “proud” for what the City Engineering District has achieved. Last semester, it had gotten a 99-percent rating, he added.
He stressed that the perfect rating means that the city has “well-maintained” thoroughfares and other transport structures.
Meanwhile, the City Engineering District is undertaking various projects to improve road infrastructures in Bacolod.
One of these is the flood control project along Lacson Street near the Mandalagan River.
This week, road rehabilitation and construction projects will also start in Bangga Cory to Hernaez Street.
Dilapidated pavements will be fixed and a new drainage will be installed in the area, Villareal said.
Future projects include pavement reparation of the Bacolod-San Carlos road and the Taculing-Alijis road re-blocking./PN
