Bacolod City gears up for Palarong Panlungsod

BACOLOD City – The city government’s preparations are underway for the much awaited Palarong Panlungsod on January 25 at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC).

The city has allocated P10 million for the uniforms and other expenses for the said program, according to Councilor Jude Thaddeus Sayson.

“This event is more than just competition; it’s a platform to inspire excellence and foster camaraderie among our young athletes,” he said.

Young city athletes will compete across 18 sports disciplines: archery, arnis, athletics, badminton, basketball 3×3, basketball 5×5, beach volleyball, billiards, chess, cycling, football, futsal, karatedo, sepak takraw, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, and volleyball.

Participants will compete in two categories: 13 and under and17 and under.

Secretary-to-the-mayor Atty. Marty Go said the players will be clustered from the city’s 61 barangays.

This grassroots tournament is not just a celebration of athleticism; it is a vital platform for nurturing talent in a supportive and safe environment. The tournaments will play a significant role in identifying promising athletes who can represent Bacolod City in national competitions such as Batang Pinoy and the Philippine National Games.

The Palarong Panlungsod also continues to exemplify Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez’s commitment to sports development, inspiring the next generation of champions to excel in their chosen fields./PN
