BACOLOD City – The city government is eyeing to rehabilitate the Manokan Country through public-private partnership (PPP).

City Administrator Pacifico Maghari III said they received a proposal for a two-storey building from SM Prime Holdings, Inc. (SPHI).

Manokan Country is at the Reclamation Area just across SM City Mall.

Maghari said the private firm submitted a proposal last year and that the city’s PPP committee has started reviewing it.

Last week, the committee decided to accept the proposal and opened it to a Swiss a challenge (proposals from other interested parties).

The city administrator also said this improvement may attract more tourists to the city.

In Maghari’s message to the tenants, he said, “The city has a responsibility to the public. We serve food, not only of quality but healthy. And at the same time, the public deserves to have better facilities.”

He stated that once the plan is implemented, Manokan tenants with good standing in their monthly obligations to the city government will be prioritized./PN
