BACOLOD City – To better regulate and monitor the use of city hall’s service vehicles, the Bacolod City Government has partnered with a popular ride-hailing app.
This scheme, which was formalized last year through a memorandum of agreement with Grab, is called the MABB Cab (Mayor Albee Bantug Benitez Cab), exclusively for city government employees.
It helps in gathering necessary operational data and simplifies the process of accounting for city government vehicle use – the time of a city government employee’s work-related trip from start to finish, the trip destination of the employee, the kilometers covered by the trip.
This scheme also does away with city government trip tickets, which can sometimes be unreliable and pesky to accomplish.
“Kay kon maghatag ta trip ticket sa employee maglibot kon diin, waay gani ko kabalo diin gid man nagakadto, waay ko kabalo sin-o naga-usar and all those things,” added Mayor Benitez.
He also addressed the misconceptions aired by local taxi operators and drivers about the MABB Cab scheme.
This is not intended to compete with public taxis or other transport services, stressed Mayor Benitez.
“The MABB Cab service is purely for operational efficiency of the city government. It is not available to the public and therefore does not compete with local taxi services,” he clarified.
It ensures that city government employees have reliable and efficient transportation for their fieldwork and other official activities, the mayor reiterated.
The scheme also enhances the monitoring of city government drivers’ work, particularly those in departments that heavily rely on transportation support, added Mayor Benitez./PN
