Bacolod city hall workers in ‘hot water’ for ‘teleserye’

BACOLOD City – Some employees at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC) were ordered to explain to the City Legal Office (CLO) why they were watching a teleserye during working hours in their office.

Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez, in a Facebook post on Wednesday, March 22, said he received a photo from a concerned citizen showing five individuals watching television at the City Treasurer’s Office (CTO) at around 3 p.m.

City Administrator Pacifico Maghari III said the head of the CTO was given 48 hours to explain and to identify the five individuals. Not all of them were city hall employees, it was subsequently alleged.

“We referred this to the City Legal Office for proper action,” Maghari said.

Meanwhile, television is no longer allowed in all city government offices and departments.

Maghari issued a memorandum on Wednesday directing all offices and departments to pull out the television sets in their respective work areas./PN
