BACOLOD City – The healthcare utilization rate for COVID-19 patients has reached 60 percent as of May 24, according the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) here.
City Administrator and Executive Director of EOC, Em Ang, said even with the city at 60 percent capacity utilization, this might still increase due to the accommodation of COVID patients from outside the city.
Records by the One Hospital Command Center (OHCC) shows there are about 200 beds allocated for COVID-19 patients. As of May 24, the city has recorded 1,188 active cases from a total of 8,969.
Meanwhile, 33, 368 healthcare workers, senior citizens and person with co-morbidities have received COVID-19 vaccines under the city’s mass vaccination program, but only 4,173 have received the second dose. The city started inoculations in March, using the Sinovac and AstraZeneca vaccines given to the Local Government Unit (LGU) by the Department of Health (DOH).
“As cases of COVID-19 continue to surge, vaccination will be an extremely important tool in strengthening our response to COVID-19 when used in combination with minimum health protocols and other preventive measures. We, therefore, spare no effort to ensure that Bacolodnons can get vaccinated quickly and effectively,” Ang said.
She added that conducting vaccination drives in barangays and subdivisions is one way to ramp up the procedure. “Aside from barangay vaccination centers, we also set up vaccination sites in subdivisions to bring the vaccines to the Bacolodnons’ doorsteps.”/PN
