BACOLOD City – The city government hosted a two-day Pre-Health Summit from May 13 to 14 at the conference room of the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC).
The health summit is in line with the goal of Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez of achieving high quality healthcare in the city, according to Dr. Eric Saratan, special advisor on health of the city government.
To recall, health is one of the eight-point agenda of Benitez where he envisions quality, accessible and convenient health services for all.
Saratan said the major goal of the summit is to maximize the partnership of the city with public and private hospitals, and academic constitutions.
It also aims to address pressing health concerns in the city, particularly the problems that the hospitals and patients are facing.
Among the initial problems determined are the lack of hospital beds and other facilities and manpower like nurses.
Saratan, meanwhile, said the city is eyeing the establishment of primary health care centers in barangays Alijis, Bata, Banago, Cabug, Mandalagan, Vista Alegre./PN
