BACOLOD City – The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) has ramped up its efforts to solve outstanding cases, focusing on serious crimes such as murder, rape, robbery, and theft, according to Colonel Bonifacio Ancajas Jr., its public information officer.

Colonel Joeresty Coronica, the officer-in-charge of the BCPO, has instructed all police stations and investigative units to give priority to these cases.

From January to July 2024, the BCPO recorded 11 cases, with motives established and suspects identified in nine. However, the families of these cases opted not to pursue charges, leaving two major cases unresolved.

To aid in solving these cases, the BCPO is seeking public assistance and encouraging anyone with relevant information to come forward.

Ancajas assured that tips would be handled with the utmost confidentiality.

A unique reward system has also been established, managed by an eight-member committee led by Coronica.

Witnesses, particularly civilians, are eligible for rewards ranging from P20,000 to P50,000, based on the significance of their testimonies.

The rewards will be distributed equally among witnesses if there are multiple contributors, with the final amount approved by Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez.
