Bacolod City ready to embrace ‘new normal’

BACOLOD City – This city will no longer be under general community quarantine from May 16.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia said the city government will comply with the mandate of the National Inter-Agency Task Force Resolution No. 35 classifying Bacolod as “low-risk” highly-urbanized city or no longer under a community quarantine.

“Effectively, it means that we will no longer appeal the decision,” Leonardia told Aksyon Radyo Bacolod Tuesday evening.

He assured that strict policies and measures like social distancing and wearing of face masks will stillbe implemented.

In an online press briefing yesterday, Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque announced that Bacolod City and other areas in Western Visayas will no longer be placed under enhanced or general community quarantine from May 16.

Minimum health standards shall be implemented in these areas such as practicing good hygiene, disinfecting environment, implementing physical distancing schemes, and isolating sick persons.

Since May 1, Bacolod has no new records of COVID-19 positive, except on the two repatriated overseas Filipino workers who are now in the city’s quarantine facility./PN
