BACOLOD City – To mark the celebration of the World Hemophilia Day, the New Government Center will light up in red later today as part of the global campaign dubbed as “Light It Up Red” aimed at raising awareness on hemophilia and inherited bleeding disorders.
“Bacolodnons need to educate themselves about this rare blood disorder,” said lone district representative Greg Gasataya on Tuesday.
Gasataya co-authored the House Bill 5355, which seeks to establish hemophilia treatment centers in key cities and provinces in the country providing adequate and affordable medical care to patients with bleeding disorder.
He said strengthening measures and awareness will certainly help the people suffering from these rare conditions.
“A great learning opportunity for us as the New Government Center will light up in red in celebration of the World Hemophilia Day,”Gasataya stressed.
According to the World Hemophilia Federation’s data, at least 10,000 Filipinos are suffering from this disease with inherited genes and triggering blood clot as factors.
“I pledge my office to further the advocacy for hemophiliacs and to allow them to live full lives as productive members of our society,” Gasataya said./PN
