Bacolod City vet holds ‘Libre Kapon’

BACOLOD City – The City Veterinary Office (CVO) recently conducted a “Libre Kapon” drive, or free spaying and neutering of cats and dogs in this city, on April 13 at Barksite Animal Clinic in Barangay Mandalagan.

Spaying is sterilizing a female animal by removing the ovaries. Neutering, on the other hand, is castrating a male animal.

The city’s animal welfare advocacy was in collaboration with some of the animal welfare organizations, like Community Animal Rescue Efforts (CARE), Inc., and Mission PAWSsible.

Assistant City Veterinarian John Michael Cabuguason reported that a total of 20 cats and dogs were spayed and neutered during the event.

Their mission is to provide efficient and effective veterinary public health services, as well as to promote animal welfare and responsible pet ownership.

This collaborative effort between the CVO and various animal welfare groups aims to eliminate animal abuse and cruelty in our city, the CVO official said.

Aside from the said activity, the CVO and the partnered animal groups distributed flyers about responsible pet ownership, enlightening both registrants and non-registrants alike on what other things to note aside from spaying and neutering a pet to be a responsible pet owner./PN
