BACOLOD City – This capital city’s recent citation as one of the most business-friendly local government units will spur the interest of potential investors, according to its local chief executive.
Mayor Evelio Leonardia said the award will serve as a “magnet” to attract more business ventures, especially of companies that are first looking for the credentials of a city before investing.
The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the award-giving body, recognized Bacolod City as a business-friendly local government unit under City Level 1 category for supporting the national government road construction programs that further expand the urban progress and generate new growth centers.
Bacolod was also cited for sustaining livelihood through crafting programs for micro, small and medium enterprises.
“We are crediting all these to the people of Bacolod. This is our collective victory and prestige for the city and it should inspire us to aspire for greater heights,” Leonardia said.
The mayor said the PCCI award is an evidence of Bacolod City’s consistency in providing investors a “business-friendly climate” that results to the development of the business community.
Bacolod City was the only highly urbanized city outside of Metro Manila included in the top three finalists in the same tilt last year.
The city was also named as the “Top Philippine Model City” in 2017 by The Manila Times. This year, it declared Bacolod City as first runner-up in the same category, with a special citation as the “Most Business-Friendly City.” (With a report from Philippine Information Agency/PN)
