Bacolod cops intensify security measures for summer

BACOLOD City – The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) has bolstered its security operations in anticipation of the increased movement of people and various events taking place during summer season.

It said security personnel are strategically deployed in coordination with the local government unit and other law enforcement agencies to prevent any untoward incidents.

With the onset of the summer vacation, the BCPO said the influx of overseas Filipinos and workers from different regions returning to their hometowns in the Negros Island Region is expected, particularly during the observance of the Holy Week from April 13 to 20.

It added that significant national and local events such as the Philippine Veterans Week, Araw ng Kagitingan, Labor Day, Flores de Mayo, and the national and local elections (NLE) are expected to contribute to heightened public activity.

Fiestas and local festivities may also lead to congestion in roads, transportation hubs, seaports, airports, and terminals, while an influx of local and foreign tourists is anticipated in beach resorts, hotels, mountain retreats, and other tourist destinations.

Given these circumstances, BCPO has reinforced its proactive policing efforts to prevent lawless elements from taking advantage of the situation.

β€œThe possibility of criminal groups or individuals launching attacks against government officials, law enforcement forces, and vital installations cannot be discounted,” it said.

Thus, the public is encouraged to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement authorities to ensure a safe and peaceful summer season.

The city police force further assured the public of its full commitment to safeguarding the community and maintaining public order.

β€œWith the NLE campaign period, election day, and proclamation of winners falling within summer vacation, BCPO is intensifying its police operations to ensure peace, law, and order.”/PN
