BACOLOD City – The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) seized suspected shabu worth P94.454 million and arrested 594 persons in various antidrug operations in 2022.

The City Drug Enforcement Unit and other police stations across the city recovered a total of 13,890.44 grams of alleged shabu from 511 operations, leading to the arrest of drug suspects.

Those arrested included 538 street-level and 38 high-value drug suspects, as well as six minors and 12 newly-identified drug suspects.

Among the major operations resulted in the arrest of Barangay Alijis village councilor Abby Araneta, 28, and Freely Boy Aldas, 39.

Araneta was found in possession of 201 grams of alleged shabu worth P1.37 million during a buy-bust in November.

In October, a couple yielded 1.25 kilograms of alleged shabu worth P8.5 million during a buy-bust at Purok Bolinao, Barangay 1. The suspects were Alvin Cristales, 27, and partner Regina Escosio, 44.

In July, Christine Dacumos, 36, was arrested after yielding P2.8-million of alleged shabu in Barangay Singcang-Airport in July.

Records further showed 811 cases were filed in court against drug suspects for violations of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

“I commend the men and women of the BCPO for their accomplishments in the past year, for their relentless efforts through police-initiated operations to lessen criminality,” said Police Colonel Thomas Joseph Martir. (PNA)/PN
