Bacolod councilor passes away

BACOLOD City – Councilor Elmer Sy of this city passed away at the Bacolod Adventist Medical Center, yesterday, June 25. He was 65.

The councilor, who was in his second term, had already been on dialysis for several years.

The family is yet to issue a statement as to the cause of his death.

“It is a sad day for Bacolod City and Sangguniang Panlungsod to have lost a good man and a comrade,” said Councilor Cindy Rojas.

“A man of a few words, but a man who made a big difference in a lot of people’s lives over the course of his service to the people of Bacolod. He will be missed,” she added.

Councilor Renecito Novero, meanwhile, said aside from being a two-term councilor, Sy had also served in the same position in 1995, completing his term then.

Novero described Sy as a “silent worker but when you give him a task he will perform diligently.”

“He was a generous person,” Novero added.

Sy was also a known political ally of Mayor Evelio Leonardia./PN
