Bacolod crimes down 14% in September

The 13.96-percent decrease in Bacolod City’s crime volume in September is attributed to intensified police-initiated operations, according to city police head Senior Superintendent Francisco Ebreo.

BACOLOD City – The crime volume in this capital city decreased 13.96 percent in September, the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) reported.

BCPO head Senior Superintendent Francisco Ebreo said they recorded total of 228 crimes last month, 37 cases lower compared to 265 in September last year.

Index crimes, or crimes against persons and properties, dropped 57.69 percent – from 104 cases in 2017 to only 44 this year.

These crimes include murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, robbery, theft, carnapping and motornapping.

But non-index crimes – which include reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, physical injury, damage to property and violations of other special laws – rose 14.29 percent.

The BCPO recorded 161 non-index crimes in September last year. This year, it recorded 184.

According to Ebreo, the overall decline in the city’s crime volume can be attributed to the increased police-initiated operations./PN
