Bacolod deploys emergency responders to beach resorts

BACOLOD City – The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) will deploy its personnel to resorts and beaches here where people are expected to flock to celebrate Easter Sunday on April 20.

“For safety and to secure the life of every individual going in the said places, there will be responders present in the areas, particularly in Barangay Punta Taytay, one of the coastal areas in this city ,where several resorts are situated,” the CDRRMO said.

Dr. Ana Maria Laarni Pornan, CDRRMO head, said they will also deploy responders to Reclamation Area and Barangay Banago as many people are also expected to swim along the breakwater.

“The barangays will also deploy their respective volunteers together with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) personnel,” Pornan said.

She then reminded the public not to swim when drunk to avoid drowning incidents. Parents are likewise advised to be watchful of their children, especially when they swim.

Meanwhile, the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) intensified its security measures in all identified areas of convergence in the city as it expects surge of travelers returning to the provinces in the Negros Island Region (NIR) as well as the influx of tourists visiting local destinations.

These areas include churches, transportation terminals, highways, seaports, airports, beach resorts, hotels, and other places of interest.

BCPO has initiated the strategic deployment of uniformed personnel in coordination with local government units and other law enforcement agencies to ensure maximum visibility and swift response capabilities.

“We are fully committed to upholding peace and order throughout Semana Santa and the summer months. We call on the public to cooperate with law enforcement, remain vigilant, and report any suspicious activities in their areas,” said Police colonel Joeresty Coronica, BCPO director./PN
