MANILA – Bacolod BingoPlus vented its ire on Quezon City MG Cars with a 79-64 domination in the 2022 Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Season on Tuesday night at Lagao Gymnasium in General Santos City.
Negrense Mark Yee flirted with double-double with 18 points, including two outside baskets, to go with nine rebounds as Bacolod bounced back from its 76-73 loss to GenSan Warriors to improve to 10-7 win-loss slate.
Raymund Ilagan chipped in 12 points to go with five rebounds and three assists, Joel Lee Yu contributed 10 markers and six assists, while Bacolodnon Jeramer Cabanag had nine markers and six assists for Bacolod.
Bacolod opened the game with a 5-2 score after a triple by Aaron Jeruta and inside hit by Ilagan. Quezon City went on a 10-0 blast to take a 12-5 edge but conversions from Yee, Cabanag and Kraniel Villoria tied the score at 12-all.
Quezon City started the second quarter strong as they cruised to a 28-21 advantage but Bacolod leaned on the exploits of Ilagan, Cabanag, Kenneth Tulipas and Yee to snatch a 33-30 halftime advantage.
The Bacolodnons continued its momentum in the third quarter with Villoria unloading back-to-back baskets followed by consecutive scores by Yee and Tulipas as the lead reached 42-32.
Quezon City attempted to come close at seven points but the Bacolodnons pulled away further at 56-42 with free throws from Yee and Alwyn Alday and successive baskets from Lee Yu.
The Bacolodnons went on with its assault in the fourth quarter as the lead reached its largest at 74-53 following shots from Lee Yu and Cabanag before Quezon City trimmed the final margin at 15.
None from Quezon City (7-8) hit double-digits in scoring with Adrian Celada and Christopher Menguez leading the way with eight markers apiece with the latter also grabbing five rebounds.
The Alex Angeles-mentored Bacolod BingoPlus will continue its busy schedule this week as they battle Muntinlupa Cagers on September 9 and Sarangani Marlins on September 10, both matches in Sarangani City.
