BACOLOD City – The Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) in this city is purchasing a mobile command center. This is apart from the main command center, the building of which is set to begin construction soon.
According to city DRRMO head Maria Laarni Pornan, the mobile command center will be mainly utilized during major events in the city, such as the MassKara Festival.
The facility will serve as an office on wheels equipped with amenities such as television, surveillance cameras, a meeting room, and a comfort room, Pornan added.
It has an initial allocation of P5 million.
However, the procurement process has yet to begin because, according to Pornan, “We have to allocate an additional budget for the procurement of the said facility.”
Meanwhile, construction for the P60 million command center in this city will commence this month.
The command center, which will house the DRRMO office, among other facilities, will be situated in Barangay Taculing.
The city is also set to procure a mobile kitchen to be utilized by the Department of Social Services and Development, particularly in the evacuation centers during calamities./PN
