Bacolod elderly over 80 years old receive incentives

BACOLOD City – One hundred fifty senior citizens here between 80 and 97 years old each received P10,000 cash incentive from the city government.

The incentives were released on March 2.

In 2016 the Sangguniang Panlungsod approved City Ordinance No. 09-16-789 increasing the cash incentive from the initial P10,000 to P100,000 for residents who reach the age of 100 years old.

Councilor Archie Baribar authored the said ordinance for the incentive to be given in a “ladderized manner.”

Part of the provision of the ordinance stated that Bacolodnons who reach the age of 80 to 89 will receive P10,000, while those aged 90 to 99 will be given another P10,000.

The remaining P80,000 will be given to those who will reach 100 years old provided that they have received all previous incentives.

In January, the city distributed to 60 beneficiaries P10,000 each, according to Department of Social Services and Development (DSSD) head Pacita Tero./PN
