Bacolod expects 7,000 anti-COVID shots from Sinovac

BACOLOD City – Around 7,000 doses of vaccine against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-2019) from China’s Sinovac Biotech have been allocated to this city, according to the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) here.

Yesterday, Dr. Chris Sorongon, deputy for medical data and analysis of the EOC, confirmed that about half of the doses will arrive within the week.

These vaccines were China’s donation to the Philippine government.

Dr. Jane Juanico, infectious disease cluster head of the Department of Health (DOH) Region 6, confirmed to Panay News that the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital are getting 1,642 anti-COVID shots while the Dr. Pablo O. Torre Memorial Hospital (Riverside Medical Center) are expecting 1,493.

Sorongon, meanwhile, explained that the two hospitals are the first to receive the vaccines because they are Level 3 hospitals.

Level 3 hospitals were those having training programs for doctors, rehabilitation and dialysis units, among others.

Medical workers in the said hospitals would be vaccinated first, Sorongon said./PN
