Bacolod expects 80K delegates for MICE

BACOLOD City – After two years of hiatus due to the coronavirus disease 2019, this city is expecting about 80,000 delegates from various places and organizations for the meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions (MICE).

The MICE Council met yesterday, March 13, with Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez to gear up for the events.

Sangguniang Panlungsod committee on tourism chair, Councilor Jason Villarosa, said they discussed how the city could attract more delegates.

Villarosa also said the city has enough accommodations.

Two major conventions would be held within the first quarter of the year and three more in the second quarter, the councilor added.

Villarosa said the mayor aims to have a MICE event every month with around 1,000 to 2,000 delegates.

The city government is also eyeing to host the Philippine Accountants League convention, which would be attended by more than 5,000 delegates, Villarosa added./PN
