Bacolod eyes resumption of fast craft ops to Iloilo City

BACOLOD City – The Emergency Operations Center (EOC) mulled resuming ferry services between this city and Iloilo City following months of suspension due to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Mayor Evelio Leonardia yesterday said one of the things being considered by EOC was removing the negative swab test requirement.

This was also being pushed by local ferry companies led by Weesam Express operator Frank Carbon.

Leonardia said he doesn’t want Bacolod “to remain as an island,” pointing out his agreement on reopening the city’s border with Iloilo City.
In an interview over Brigada News FM-Bacolod on Monday, Carbon was hoping that with the recent downgrading of Iloilo City into a heightened general community quarantine – same with Bacolod’s quarantine level – trips between the two cities could resume.

Carbon, also the chief executive officer of the Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said instead of a negative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction test, a vaccination card should only be the requirement when entering or exiting the two cities./PN
