Bacolod fire displaces 21 families, leaves P3-M damage

BACOLOD City – Twenty-one families were displaced by a fire that destroyed 18 houses and partially damaged three others in Cordova Extension, Barangay 18 here at around 8:40 a.m. on Saturday, April 13.

According to the city’s Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the fire reached the third alarm at 10 a.m.

A “fire out” was declared around 10:14 a.m.

The BFP-Bacolod City reported no casualties and injured persons.

The damage left by fire was estimated at P3 million.

As of this writing, the BFP-Bacolod City said the cause of the fire was still under investigation.

The Bacolod City Government, through the Bacolod City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office and volunteers distributed hot meals, hygiene kits and food packs to the affected residents.

Financial assistance would also be given to displaced families who are currently taking temporary shelter at the barangay’s evacuation center, the city government added. (Watchmen Daily Journal)/PN
