Bacolod fire leaves over P20-M damage

BACOLOD City – A fire that razed a commercial building on corner Locsin and Luzuriaga streets, Barangay 37 here yesterday left an estimated P20,234,400 worth of damage.

The blaze that reached “second alarm status” started around 8:33 a.m., according to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).

A “fire out” was declared by 4:14 p.m., nearly eight hours later.

The fire was first noticed from the second floor of the three-storey commercial building, according to a volunteer of a fire brigade.

The second and third floors of the structure served as stockrooms for dry goods like ready-to-wear garments.

According to the BFP-Bacolod, they made a hole through the wall to penetrate the building.

Meanwhile, the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office rerouted the traffic because several roads were occupied by responding fire trucks.

There was no reported injury or casualty in the fire the cause of which remained unclear as of this writing
