Bacolod gov’t sorry for delayed salary

BACOLOD City – The city government of Bacolod has apologized for the delayed salary of 26 contract of service employees assigned to the City Health Office.

“Nagapangayo kita sang pasensya sa delay nga natuga,” said Karol Joseph Chiu, secretary to the mayor.

Affected were 14 nurses and 12 midwives, with a contract period from June to August this year.

Chiu said the delay was due to the processing of their documents.

Although the City Mayor’s Office (CMO) received their papers on June 27, a legal opinion was needed. The CMO requested for it on June 29.

It was only released on July 24, Chiu added.

The papers were then endorsed on July 27 to the Sangguniang Panlungsod, requesting authority for the city mayor to sign the contract.

The authority was signed on Aug. 1 but ratified by the SP on Aug. 16./PN
