BACOLOD City – A man and his nine-year-old adopted grandson were killed early yesterday morning. Unidentified individuals broke into their house in Abada Escay, Barangay Vista Alegre here.
Police identified the fatalities as 73-three-year-old Aurelio Rull, a watchman (tanod) in Barangay 8, and the minor whom the police requested not to be named.
The incident happened around 2 a.m.
The suspects stabbed Rull multiple times; they also did not spare the child.
The elderly died on the spot. He had wounds on the body and head.
The boy was rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital. He expired Tuesday afternoon.
Scene of the Crime Operatives recovered a kitchen knife measuring about 12 inches (from tip to handle).
The motive in the killing is yet to be established.
Vista Alegre captain, Jose Ma. Leandro De Leon said Rull was in their drugs watchlist.
The senior’s house had been subject to “multiple raids” in the past, according to De Leon.
A resident who requested anonymity, meanwhile, claimed that Rull’s house was allegedly being used as a “drug den”.
“Several unidentified” individuals used to visit his residence, the local alleged.
Even if these allegations were true, De Leon said the old man and the child did not deserve such cruelty.
Meanwhile, the barangay captain urged other drug personalities in Vista Alegre to turn themselves in to the authorities./PN
