BACOLOD City – This city is hosting the fifth leg of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations – Presidential Communications Operations Office (ASEAN-PCOO) Road Show on Friday at the Sugarland Hotel.
PCOO secretary Jose Ruperto Martin M. Andanar, fresh from state visits with President Rodrigo R. Duterte in Myanmar and Bangkok, will lead the event.
In a keynote speech, Andanar will highlight four government milestones, including the ASEAN Summit 2017, the Presidential Task Force on Media Security, the Freedom of Information, and social media in a participative government.
Other topics to be discussed include the Philippine Chairmanship of ASEAN 2017, Ang Bagong Philippine Information Agency, the Philippine Development Plan 2017-2022, Executive Order No. 2 and the Freedom of Information, New Media Communications for Participatory Governance, and Administrative Order No. 1 and the Protection of Journalists.
Andanar said the PCOO’s principal task is to make the people understand government policies.
The first leg of the ASEAN-PCOO Road Show took place in Davao City in January. The others in Zamboanga, Baguio and Cebu followed as part of the hosting of ASEAN meetings in the said cities.
Representatives from the academe, business, national government agencies, and local government units were invited to the Road Show. (PIA/PN)
