Bacolod implements road closure, rerouting for ‘Undas’

BACOLOD City – The Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) is implementing a two-day road closure and rerouting along Burgos Street on Nov. 1 and 2 in observance of All Saints’ and All Souls’ days.

The Sangguniang Panlungsod earlier approved the request of BTAO for a road closure from the corner of Lopez Jaena-Burgos streets to the corner of Ylac-Burgos streets from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Nov. 1 and 2.

People bound for the Bacolod Public Cemetery (Burgos Cemetery) and Rolling Hills and Palm Heaven memorial parks on Burgos Street are advised to follow the temporary rerouting.

Public utility vehicles plying Homesite, Fortune Town, FF Gonzaga, Santa Fe, San Dionisio, Granada to Central Market routes and vice versa are advised to observe the rerouting from Burgos Street, right turn to Ylac Street, left turn to Ilang-Ilang Street, left turn to L.N. Agustin Drive (Malaspina Street), left turn to Lopez Jaena Street, right turn to Burgos Street, all the way back to the point of destination.

Eastbound private vehicles going to Rolling Hills and Palm Haven memorial parks have an option to take Galo Street (Megaworld), left turn onto 4th Road, right turn onto Burgos Street, all the way to their point of destination.

Southbound vehicles passing along Burgos Extension from the memorial park have an option to turn right onto Sofia Gonzaga Street, and turn left onto C.L. Montelibano Drive, all the way to their point of destination, as an alternative route, the BTAO added.

Meanwhile, there are about 300 ambulant flower and candle vendors permitted by the city government to sell in designated areas only.

There are 150 vendors at Burgos Cemetery; 20 at Burgos Market; 70 on San Juan Street (Bacolod Public Plaza); 50 on Gonzaga Street (Bacolod Public Plaza); and 30 each on Hernaez and Mabini streets (Libertad Market).

The Bacolod City Police Office again reminds the public to not bring prohibited items in cemeteries such as pointed objects or bladed weapons, firearms, playing cards or mahjong tiles, and sound systems./PN
