Bacolod intensifies dengue measures

BACOLOD City – The City Heath Office (CHO) intensified its preventive measures in response to the rising number of dengue cases here.

CHO Environment Sanitation Division head Dr. Grace Tan said they are conducting information and cleanup drive campaign together with barangays officials to avert the looming dengue outbreak in the city.

“We also encourage every barangays to initiate the cleanup drive at their respective areas,” she added.

The CHO report showed a 65.1-percent increase in dengue cases from Jan. 1 to June 22 this year with 477, higher compared to last year’s 289 during the same period.

The report also showed that there were three deaths due to dengue – the latest was a two-year-old boy from Barangay Granada, who died last week.

“Dengue is a thing to be alarmed of because of the possibility that it will rise up if the community will not do their share,” Tan stressed

She also urged every household clean their surrounding in order to eradicate and destroy the breeding and nesting places of mosquitos.

In Bacolod City, barangays with high dengue cases are Estefania, Tangub, Pahanocoy, Taculing, Granada, Handumanan, Mansilingan, Alijis, Mandalagan, and Villamonte./PN
