Bacolod is ready in case transport strike will pursue

BACOLOD City-This city is ready in case the different transport groups in Negros Occidental will hold a two-day transport protest (untat-byahe) scheduled on March 21 to 22, as fuel prices continue to increase.

Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran said the city will utilize its vehicles like the city buses to transport stranded commuters, especially the city hall employees so that they can report to work.

Anna Marie Laarni Pornan, head of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office(CDRRMO)said that they have on-stand-by vehicles and rescue teams in case there will be an untoward incident that may occur during the conduct of the protest.

On his part, Councilor Dindo Ramos, chairman of the committee on transportation said, he will coordinate with the City Mayor’s Office so that the city will have its contingency plan.

Several transport groups here announced last week that they will hold the transport strike because of the continuing price hike of the fuel.

But, the Vallacar Transit Inc., operator of the Ceres buses is yet to announce if they will join the strike./PN
