BACOLOD City – The city government has launched the sectoral identification (ID) registration during the Sectoral Summit 2024 held at the Bacolod City College activity center.
This initiative is aimed at improving services and programs for different sectors. The IDs will serve as tools for easier access to government programs, assistance, and benefits tailored to their specific needs.
Meanwhile, led by Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez, the summit on December 13 gathered around 1,088 representatives from 134 accredited associations in the city, including the senior citizen, women, vendors, farmers, persons with disabilities (PWDs), fisherfolk, and transport sectors.
City Administrator Lucel Gelvolea said these associations have been accredited by the Sangguniang Panlungsod and recognized by the city, she said.
“Another purpose of the sectoral IDs is to make it easier for the city government to determine legitimate members of the sectoral groups. Their names should be included in the city’s database,” Gelvolea added.
The event was also graced by Cong. Greg Gasataya and several city councilors.
The Bacolod Integrated Deaf Association (BIDA) expressed gratitude to the city government for the sectoral ID registration.
“We appreciate this pioneering initiative. With the leadership of Mayor Albee Benitez we have felt that government truly cares for the deaf. Thank you very much! We look forward to not just being recipients but also givers as we work with our leaders to improve our lives,” BIDA said./PN
