BACOLOD City – All barangay officials in the city must undergo drug testing, said Liga ng mga Barangay president Lady Gles Gonzales-Pallen.
Members of the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Councils (BADACs) and barangay workers must do the same, added Pallen.
She stressed that this is in compliance with an order from the Department of Interior Local Government in line with the national government’s antidrug campaign.
About 100 barangay officials, BADAC members and village employees have underwent drug testing on Monday and Tuesday which was organized by the City Health Office (CHO).
The CHO will be conducting another drug testing today to accommodate 50 more people.
Pallen – village chief of Barangay Taculing – said barangay officials won’t pay for the drug tests since funds from the barangay are allocated for this purpose.
Those who underwent drug tests for the past two days have tested negative for illegal drug use, Pallen stressed./PN
