Bacolod markets to get facelift

BACOLOD City – The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) will provide this city with P150-million financial assistance for the improvement and rehabilitation of three major public markets.

DBM approved the request of Mayor Evelio Leonardia for the financial aid.

“This is by far the biggest single Local Government Support Fund we have ever received,” said Leonardia.

The amount will be equally allocated to Libertad, Burgos and Central markets with P50 million each.

Leonardia said they already had meetings with the officers of the market vendors associations, and the City Engineer’s Office has also consulted them during the process of preparing the Program of Works.

“This assistance will be a substantial investment in our three major markets to counter the unprecedented devastating health and economic consequences or impact of coronavirus disease 2019,” the mayor added./PN
