Bacolod morning fire displaces 238 families

BACOLOD City – Yesterday’s morning fire razes an estimated 222 houses in Purok Cagaycay, Barangay 2.

According to village chief Emelda Banguanga, the blaze originated from a house owned by Elbert Deo around 2 a.m.

Fire investigators were still validating the total amount of damaged properties.

Pacita Tero, head of the Department of Social Services and Development, said 238 displaced families

sought shelter at the Andres Bonifacio Elementary School gymnasium in Barangay 3.

“We are conducting an ongoing validation to the affected families and the financial assistance

from the city government worth P10,000 each will be released right away,” said Tero.

She also appealed to the public to extend their help to the affected families.

“The affected residents need clothing and other necessities,” she said.

The Bureau of Fire and Protection recorded no casualties and declared a “fire-out” around 8:40 a.m./PN
