BACOLOD City – The Tourism Week celebration in this city highlights the efforts of tourism stakeholders and other sectors to make Bacolod City a more popular tourist and convention destination.
Bacolod, with its events from Sept. 13-17, joins the World Tourism Organizationâs Tourism Month this September with the theme âTourism for All: Promoting Universal Accessibility.â
âWe are all ambassadors of Bacolod, we are all stakeholders, and all of us have our own responsibilities to make Bacolod a tourism and convention destination in this part of the country,â said Councilor EmAng, chairperson of the SangguniangPanlungsod committee on tourism.
Ang pointed out that tourism is now âvery vital to any local government, and with the advent of cheap travels and technology the world has become borderless.â
Events at the Bacolod Government Center (BGC) lobby included a photo exhibit and mini-tourism fair at the lobby, and tourism food square at the atrium, which will run until Sept. 16.
Other events include a forum on Bacolod City Tourism Products and Services and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations Community Agenda in Bacolod City Tourism Development with speakers Hellen de la Vega, the Philippine director-general for Asean, and Tourism undersecretary Benito Bengzon. (PNA)
