BACOLOD City – This city declared business tycoon Lucio L. Co as an adopted son and conferred him also the title of honorary mayor.

In the unanimously approved resolution No. 35 of the Sangguniang Panlungsod, Co was cited as a driving force propelling diverse business sectors to unparalleled heights.

His impact resonated as the current Chairman of the Board of Directors for Cosco Capital, Inc. and Keepers Holdings, Inc.

Co’s story is rooted in a humble beginning that transcended into significant business milestones.

Expanding his entrepreneurial footprint, his vision recognizes the importance of accessibility, ensuring that quality goods and services are within reach, making it inclusive to every Filipino.

But, his legacy doesn’t end there. It extends to the heart of his business – its people. Through his tireless efforts, he gave countless opportunities to thousands of Filipino workers, providing a source of livelihood for families, and a means for individuals to realize their potential.

This is evident with the private companies where he is the Chairman of the Board of Directors, namely, Puregold Finance, Inc., Puregold Realty Leasing & Management, Inc., Clean Green Energy Corporation, Grass Gold Renewable Energy Corporation, Forbes Corporation, Pamana Water Corporation among many others.

He has been an entrepreneur for the past 50 years and has received distinguished awards. His impact in the name of business is not merely transactional but transformative.

Just like for the people of Bacolod City, Mr. Co’s pivotal role as the chairman of S&R Membership Shopping will significantly impact Bacolod City’s economic growth and development as it opens its doors to the public this year. It will be a cornerstone of the city’s investments, positively influencing the lives of its residents.

Furthermore, his continued commitment is evident through his current role as Chairman of the Board at Bacolod Real Estate Development Corporation, specifically in the development of the port of this City.

Truly, his commitment to social responsibility reflects a leader who embodies the values of determination and an unwavering pursuit of excellence. Through philanthropy, community development, and social initiatives, he exemplifies the heart and soul of a true corporate steward.

The annual Chinese festivity is mandated under the City Ordinance 426, series of 2007, an ordinance institutionalizing the Bacolaodiat Festival as an official festival of this city.

The said annual festival is being organized by Bacolaodiat Inc., with the city providing financial assistance.

Bacolaodiat is a celebration to welcome the Chinese New Year in this capital city, coined from the words “Bacolod” and “Lao Diat (Chinese phrase for celebration)” which is jointly held by the city government and the Chinese community of Bacolod./PN
