BACOLOD City – The Civil Disturbance Management (CDM) contingents of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) and Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) showcased their anti-riot response skills during the 2nd Regional CDM Competition held in this city.
Both groups, which performed before the judges at the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office grounds on Tuesday, are competing with seven other units in Panay and Guimaras. They also competed separately in Iloilo City last week.
Major Sherlock Gabana, commander of BCPO-CDM company, said he is hopeful they will be able to defend their regional title and represent the Police Regional Office-6 (PRO-6) anew in the national competition.
The BCPO was declared overall champion during PRO-6’s first CDM Challenge held in May last year. “All our scores will be compared and we will then know the winner,” Gabana said.
This year’s regional champion will be announced by the PRO-6 at a later date.
Last year, all 122 members of the Bacolod Police’s CDM contingent received the Philippine National Police Commendation Medal.
On Tuesday, the Bacolod anti-riot policemen, and the Negros Occidental police company led by Major Robert Dejucos competed in three phases which tested the operational readiness of the CDM units.
The first part was the graded inspection, which includes the completeness of CDM complement equipment, uniforms, and support elements; second, a demonstration by a company-size complement of the eight basic CDM formations; and third, problem-based scenarios requiring the participants to solve and apply appropriate formation and procedures.
The board of judges was chaired by Commission on Human Rights -6 information officer Christopher Montaño. (With a report from PNA/PN)
