BACOLOD City – The multi-billion peso economic road project which connects the lone district of Bacolod and the 3rd District of Negros Occidental would be passable by August 30 this year.

The concreting of the Bacolod-Negros Occidental Economic Highway (BANOCEH) would be completed by August 30, according to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

“The Bacolod-Negros Occidental Economic Highway will be passable by August 30, not next year but this year,” said Rep. Greg Gasataya who helped facilitate the implementation of the modern road network.

In his State of the District report on Sunday afternoon, July 7, Gasataya said BANOCEH is a trailblazing project which will definitely open new growth areas for Bacolod.

While he pushed for the Bacolod side of the project, the congressman said it was now Bacolod City’s Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez, former representative of the 3rd District, who supported the implementation of the project towards the northern part of the city.

The 48.8-kilometer BANOCEH started way back in 2017.

Data from the DPWH showed the economic highway stretches from Bacolod South Road junction along Barangay Sum-ag in Bacolod City towards the Bacolod North Road junction in Victorias City./PN
