Bacolod offers free COVID test for persons with mild symptoms

BACOLOD City – The city government is offering free reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test to individuals with mild symptoms similar to those of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

The Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Task Force said those experiencing body aches, flu, cold, cough, fever, headache, no sense of smell or taste, and difficulty of breathing can visit the Bacolod Respiratory Outpatient (BRO) center at the Bacolod Arts, Youth and Sports Center on San Juan Street.

The BRO center is open for the testing of individuals from Mondays to Fridays at 8 a.m. to 12 noon.

Those interested should contact the EOC hotline 432-2749.

Back in April, the city government established the BRO center as a consulting facility for mild respiratory cases.

The respiratory center serves patients with respiratory conditions such as cough, nasal congestion, asthma or flu. Volunteer doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals will be available at scheduled hours.

It has a triage area, 10 separate consultation rooms, a laboratory collection room, and a mobile X-ray machine. As of Wednesday night, Bacolod had 4,266 confirmed COVID-19 cases, of which, 3,164 or 74.17 percent have recovered. The city has also recorded 1,008 active cases (23.63 percent) and 94 deaths (2.2 percent)./PN
