Bacolod offers training program for ‘near hire’ applicants

BACOLOD City – The city government through the Bacolod City College (BCC) is offering a training program for “near hire” applicants to be employed in business process outsourcing (BPO) companies here.

Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez said that he took this initiative after finding out that there were near hires who later failed to get the job due to lack of skills.

The city government and BCC, together with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and Ubiquity, created a program intended for the near hires known as Asenso Life Skills Training Academy, to help them gain skills for the BPO industry.

The city mayor said the program is funded by TESDA.

“This collaboration aims to foster local employment through targeted skills training and a direct pathway to BPO jobs,” said Mayor Benitez.

The city, he said, acts as the program hub, TESDA manages training delivery, and Ubiquity offers industry insights and hiring opportunities.

These short courses are also open to other BPO companies, thus other companies are encouraged to be part of this program as the city has tailored-fit the program to BPO companies.

“It will benefit the companies who will join because it will be easier for them to find employees to hire,” the city mayor said./PN
