BACOLOD City – All police stations in this city are on high alert since the declaration of martial law in Mindanao, said Senior Superintendent Jack Wanky, acting director of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO).
“We have intensified our security measures, conduct of checkpoints … police visibility in vital installations, business and government establishments,” Wanky said.
He added that even if they are not on high alert, it is still a standing operation procedure for stations and headquarters to strictly implement security measures.
The BCPO chief also said duty station guards should screen unnecessary visitors at the station and headquarters.
Meanwhile, Police Regional Office-18 (PRO-18) released a memo over the weekend directing all police outposts, camps, and stations throughout Negros Island Region (NIR) to strengthen security measures in response to the declaration of martial law in Mindanao and following recent attacks by members of the New People’s Army in the provinces of Quirino and Cagayan.
PRO-18 also ordered all personnel heads to conduct simulation exercises to ensure that all policemen in the region are aware of their duties.
Additionally, the office indicated that all stations and outposts are required to provide situation reports every six hours for improved coordination with other units in the region.
