BACOLOD City – The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) warned the public of individuals who might take advantage of the ongoing MassKara Festival to perpetrate crimes.
BCPO spokesman Chief Inspector Sherlock Gabana said the public must remain vigilant while celebrating the annual festival whose highlights will be on Oct. 26, 27 and 28.
Gabana added that the public must report to them any untoward incident or suspicious individuals.
On Monday, officers from Police Station 7 arrested two persons who allegedly used fake money.
Suspected illegal drugs were also confiscated from the 32-year-old Andrew Polidario and 40-year-old Shem Dobouzet – both residents of Villa Homes, Barangay Vista Alegre.
Polidario and Dobouzet were nabbed around 8:20 p.m. in Purok Mainuswagon, Barangay Alijis, said Police Station 7 commander Chief Inspector Ramel Sarona.
Recovered from them were 44 fake P1,000 bills, three fake P500 bills, one fake P100 bill, four sachets of suspected shabu valued at around P4,000, and drug paraphernalia, police said.
Police Station 7 personnel also impounded a Nissan Sentra GX Sedan the suspects used as their “getaway vehicle,” Gabana said.
Polidario and Dobouzet allegedly used the fake money when they bought from a sari-sari store in Barangay Mansilingan.
A tip from a concerned citizen led to the apprehension of the suspects, who were detained in the lockup cell of Police Station 7.
Gabana said appropriate charges will be filed against them./PN
