Bacolod reinstates 5-hour curfew

BACOLOD City – The city government here reinstated the daily five-hour curfew with the metro retaining its modified general community quarantine status for the whole month of January.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia decreed that curfew hours will continue to be observed from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m.

He issued Executive Order (EO) No. 84, Series of 2021 for this on Friday.

The metro’s curfew hours were set from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m. in the second half of December to give people the chance to attend predawn Mass or Simbang Gabi.
In his latest directive, Leonardia advised vulnerable segments of Bacolod’s population to stay indoors at all times.

Those belonging to the vulnerable sector include persons below 15 years old and over 65 years old, those with immunodeficiency, comorbidity, or other health risks regardless of age, pregnant women, and those who reside with such persons.

Based on the Jan. 1, 2021 data of the Department of Health, Bacolod City had total of 4,667 COVID-19 cases – 73 were active, 5,347 recovered and 177 died.

The selling of liquor, wine, beer, or any alcoholic or intoxicating beverage will continue to be allowed only from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., Leonardia said.

Consumption of such alcoholic beverages should be done only within private residences.

Mass gatherings such as, but not limited to, movie screenings, concerts, and other entertainment activities, religious services, and work conferences will continue to be allowed provided that participants shall be limited to 50 percent of the seating or venue capacity.

Bacolod City, Iloilo province, Iloilo City, Capiz, Negros Occidental, Aklan, Guimaras, and, Antique have been under varying levels of community quarantine since March 2020 – enhance community quarantine, GCQ and MGCQ./PN
