BACOLOD City – The city government has so far cleared major streets here of a total of 5,956 kilos of “spaghetti” or “tangled” wires.
On Friday alone, March 28, the Task Force Spaghetti Wires collected 155 kilos of wires along Lopez Jaena Street.
“The next location [of the taskforce’s operation] will be on Burgos Avenue, from Lacson to Lopues East,” the Bacolod City Public Information Office posted on Facebook on Friday.
The taskforce, chaired by Councilor Psyche Marie Sy, has been working tirelessly to identify and resolve dangling electrical wires and rotten or leaning poles across the city.
It said they are committed to their mission of ensuring the beautification of the city, removal of unnecessary, eye-sore cables, and ensuring a safer, more organized Bacolod City.
“We also encourage everyone to take an active role in promoting safety. If you notice any electrical hazards in your area, report them immediately to us. Let’s work together for a safer, hazard-free Bacolod,” the councilor said.
The city government, meanwhile, urged telecommunications and utility companies anew to continue cooperating in the proper management of their wiring systems./PN
