BACOLOD City – At least 53 Bacolodnons who were repatriated from Cebu City have tested negative for SARS-coV-2, the virus that causes coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Councilor Cindy Rojas, chairperson of the Action Team on non-OFWs, revealed this good news on Thursday, saying the locally stranded individuals (LSIs) underwent testing through reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) upon arriving in this city. Their results were released yesterday.

The 53 Bacolod residents completed their 14-day mandatory quarantine at a public school here on May 27. They were then allowed to go home to their families after being cleared in subsequent COVID-19 tests.

As of Thursday, Rojas said there were still 173 Bacolodnons stuck in Palawan and Metro Manila awaiting results of their PCR tests.

Meanwhile, the local government unit here is now accepting the application of LSIs from this city who wants to return to home or to work in other places.

Sangguniang Kabataan president Ayesha Joy Villaflor, chairperson of the Action Team on LSI, said LSIs are those that were stranded here during the lockdown and those who wants to go back to the place where they are working.Villaflor clarified that the SLI will be the one to pay their expenses going to their respective destinations./PN
