BACOLOD City – A residential blaze broke out yesterday afternoon on San Juan Street, Purok Kagaykay, in this city’s Barangay 2, resulting in an estimated damage of at least P1,500,000.

According to Senior Fire Officer 4 Jereck C. Barbas, ground commander of the Bacolod City Fire Station, the fire erupted at about 2:15 p.m. and reached a “second alarm” status. It was successfully extinguished at 2:34 p.m.

Twelve households were affected by the fire, with 10 of them suffering complete devastation and two sustaining partial damage.

Fortunately, there were no reported injuries or casualties from the incident.

Barbas confirmed that, based on their initial investigation, the cause of the fire is electric in nature, although Bacolod City’s fire bureau is still conducting a deeper probe, which could provide critical insights essential for preventing similar incidents in the future./PN
