BACOLOD City – Udenna Infrastructure Corp. tendered an unsolicited proposal to expand the Bacolod-Silay Airport, said House Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
Arroyo was in Silay City, Negros Occidental last Friday to conduct a briefing regarding the proposal.
“There is a proponent and they informed the Department of Transportation (DOTr) of their intention,” said Arroyo.
The public-private partnership proposal, according to Arroyo, was submitted to the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines.
“But the budget is yet to be announced,” she said.
DOTr is currently evaluating the company’s financial and technical capabilities.
The Bacolod-Silay Airport, constructed in 2003 and inaugurated in 2007, is located on a 181-hectare land in Barangay Bactic, Silay City./PN
