MANILA – Bacolod Master Sardines finally got back on the winning track in the 2019-2020 Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Lakan Cup. It defeated Quezon City Capitals, 68-63, at the Caloocan Sports Complex.

Bacolodnon Paolo Javelona top scored with 18 points on Friday while Ilonggo Yankee Haruna and Benedict Adamos added 14 and 10 markers, respectively.

The huge victory halted the seven-game losing run of the Bacolod City-based ballclub. They notched their seventh victory in 22 matches.

The Bacolodnons dictated the tempo early behind Javelona and Haruna for a 15-12 advantage. The offense continued in the second period as the lead reached 36-30 at the half.

The match was still tight, however, in the second half with the Master Sardines’ largest lead is only at 12 points. The Capitals tried to overcome it but the Bacolodnons came up with crucial stops to hang on.

Clark Derige finished with 20 points while Dahrrel Carauingan and Mark Olayon added 14 and 10 markers, respectively.

The Capitals dropped to 9-15./PN
